With Love, Katie.
About Katie.
I’m Katie, a Christian mom of two beautiful girls, ages 2 and 5.
Some days are hard. Other days are even harder. We live in a small, simple apartment, and I’m a stay-at-home mom with my little one, while my older daughter goes to kindergarten for four hours a day.
This blog is really about my mission: helping moms move from overstimulation and chronic stress toward a calmer, more peaceful life—so bedtime doesn’t have to be a battle filled with tears and raised voices.
I don’t have big promises or a life-changing formula. What I do have are small, gentle steps that can help you ease stress, create a more natural, detoxed home, and rediscover joy in food. But more than anything, I want to talk about femininity, about motherhood, and about how hard this season can be—for all of us.
You are enough. You’re already doing a beautiful job simply by loving your children.
And you can care for yourself, too. Even small moments of me-time and self-care—right there at home, while your babies are sleeping—can make a difference.
Is it my blog for you? Do I have something you need? Let’s find out!
My questions to you:
-
Do you feel overwhelmed by the constant demands of homemaking and never-ending stress? -> Read about some stress-relief techniques for tired moms.
-
Do you feel like you give everything to your family and have nothing left for yourself? -> Maybe try 10 simple things that can give you more peace and energy, or some cycle-syncing to support your body on sensitive days.
- Do you feel like you have no time for yourself, only a few quiet moments while your children sleep? -> Make sure use these free minutes to enjoy a little bit of sunlight
-
Do you feel overwhelmed by even the basics and unsure how to start calming your nervous system? Do you feel anxious all the time? -> Start by simplifying some things in your life
-
Do you feel like you’re always tired, overwhelmed, foggy, or not feeling well despite trying many things? -> Maybe it is time to take care of your serotonin level, learn about the importance of your circadian rhythm and try making some nourishing foods to support your gut.
-
Do you feel overwhelmed by all of the chemicals you are sourrended? -> Try to detox your home and introduce step-by-step natural swaps.
I hope you will enjoy this rollercoaster ride called motherhood.
And the big question…why Healthy Dolce Far Niente?
Modern motherhood often feels like a never-ending to-do list: meals to prepare, but before that, of course, you go shopping and plan your meals. A home to manage, including cleaning, but not too many harsh chemicals, organizing, and sometimes decluttering. Children to nurture: appointments, vitamins, healthy food, and everything in between. Many mothers move through their days constantly planning, remembering, anticipating, and solving problems. Even when the day slows down, the mind often does not.
And somewhere in between, we try to remember ourselves.
Healthy Dolce Far Niente was created as a small space on the internet that reminds mothers of something we have slowly lost in modern life: the ability to pause.
This blog is not about perfect routines, productivity hacks, or trying to become the “ideal mother”. Instead, it is about rediscovering a gentler rhythm. One that nourishes the body, calms the nervous system, and allows moments of quiet presence in the middle of everyday life.
Listen to me, it has nothing to do with another overwhelming life-changing trend. All you need is you.
So, the name of the blog…
The name of this blog comes from an Italian phrase: dolce far niente, which translates to “the sweetness of doing nothing”. In Italian culture, this idea reflects a simple but powerful philosophy. It is the ability to enjoy a moment without rushing, producing, or achieving something.
Sitting in the sun with a cup of coffee.Watching children play without checking a phone. Taking a quiet walk simply because the air feels good.
Dolce far niente is not laziness. It is the recognition that life contains moments meant to be experienced, not optimized. For many mothers, however, the idea of doing nothing can feel uncomfortable. We are used to filling every minute with tasks. Rest can feel unproductive. Pausing can feel like falling behind.
But the truth is that our bodies and minds are not designed for constant activity. The nervous system needs moments of stillness in order to regulate. Emotional resilience grows when we allow ourselves space to breathe.
Dolce far niente reminds us that presence itself has value. And while the traditional concept celebrates rest and enjoyment, this blog expands it into something deeper:
The Healthy Dolce Far Niente in Motherhood? How?
Healthy Dolce Far Niente is about creating a life where moments of pause support overall well-being.
It means understanding that true rest is not simply distraction. Scrolling endlessly on a phone or collapsing in exhaustion is not the same as restorative stillness. Instead, healthy pauses nourish the body and mind.
Healthy Dolce Far Niente combines:
-
gentle moments of rest
-
nourishing food that supports energy and hormones
-
understanding how the nervous system responds to stress
-
creating a home environment that feels calm rather than overwhelming
In other words, it is about caring for yourself in ways that allow you to show up more fully in motherhood.
This blog grew from a simple realization: many mothers are trying to do everything right, yet still feel exhausted and overwhelmed. The solution is not always another productivity system or perfect routine. Sometimes what we need most is permission to slow down. Healthy Dolce Far Niente is an exploration of that permission.
A reminder that caring for yourself is not separate from caring for your family.
If you are a mother looking for a gentler rhythm of life (one that includes nourishment, understanding, and moments of quiet presence) you are in the right place. Welcome to Healthy Dolce Far Niente.
The sweetness of doing nothing, practiced in a healthy way, might be exactly what modern motherhood needs.
